JEFFRY DENMAN
As a Director/Choreographer he staged, choreographed and co-starred in five critically acclaimed Town Hall performances: A Tribute to Lerner and Loewe and Broadway by the Year installments – 1947, 1924, 1944 and 1970. As a Choreographer: YANK! (York Theatre) Nominated for a 2010 Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Choreography. Naked Boys Singing! (Off B’way in its 11th year), YANK! (Gallery Players), My Favorite Broadway: The Love Songs (PBS Great Performances). Dancing in the Dark (MusicalFare Theatre) Artie Award for Best Choreography. His choreography was featured in the Astaire & Rogers Collection DVD Volume 1 (Warner Bros. DVD). He co- created and choreographed Fred and His Partners a concert with the New Haven symphony starring he and his wife, Erin. He has choreographed multiple symphony concerts with the Sunshine Pops, The Columbus Symphony, Portland Symphony, Utah Symphony, Carolina Symphony as well as A Tribute to Irving Berlin with Marvin Hamlish at the Kennedy Center with the National Symphony (co-starring with Debbie Gravitte), A Tribute to George Gershwin with Marvin Hamlisch and the Philadelphia Pops (also co-starring with Debbie Gravitte), and Standard Time with Michael Feinstein at Carnegie Hall. He assisted Niki Harris on the Off-Broadway Noel Coward musical If Love Were All starring Harry Groener and Twiggy. Other regional choreographic credits: Sugar Babies, Singin’ in the Rain, The Fantastiks, Strike Up the Band, Dames at Sea, Pump Boys and Dinettes, Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris, and If Love Were All.
As a performer, he starred as the ‘Danny Kaye’ role in the Broadway Premiere of Irving Berlin’s White Christmas and in the World Premiere of The Gershwins’ An American in Paris at the Alley Theatre. He was nominated for an LA Ovation Award for his portrayal of Junior Dolan in On Your Toes at LA Reprise and won a 2008 Backstage Bistro Award winner for his solo jazz concert Jazz Turns. Broadway and NYC: The original casts of The Producers, Dream, and How To Succeed… and the final cast of Cats; Jenkins in Of Thee I Sing and Pat Mason Jr. in Face the Music at City Center Encores!; He played the role of Artie Goldberg in the IT award-winning and GLAAD nominated production of YANK! (Gallery Players, NYMF 2005); James Leeds in Children of a Lesser God (Keen Company); Pvt Wars (Incumbo).
