Personal Information
Douglas Carter Beane is the author of such plays as As Bees In Honey Drown (Outer Critics Circle John Gassner Playwriting Award; Drama Desk Best Play Nomination); the Country Club L.A. Times Critics' Choice & Drama-Logue Awards); Advice From a Caterpillar (Outer Critics Circle Award nom.), White Lies, Devil May Care and Old Money. Doug’s new play Music From a Sparkling Planet, opened at Drama Dept. June 2001 and he has written the book for a new musical comedy, The Big Time (music & lyrics by Douglas J. Coehn), which will open at Drama Dept. soon. His films include To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar; Advice From A Caterpillar (Best Feature- Aspen Comedy Festival; Only Feature – Toyota Comedy Festival). Doug is a founding member and Artistic Director of Drama Dept. and member of the Dramatists Guild.
