Michael Shannon

Personal Information
Michael Shannon grew up in Lexington, Kentucky, and began his professional stage career in Chicago. His first acting role was in Winterset at the Illinois Theatre Center. He continued working on the stage with Steppenwolf, The Next Lab and A Red Orchid Theatre. He performed on London's West End in such productions as Woyzeck, Killer Joe and Bug. Michael recently originated the role of Harry Brown in Tracy Lett's Man From Nebraska at Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre. His film work includes John Waters' Cecil B. Demented, Joel Schumacher's war drama Tigerland, Michael Bay's World War II epic Pearl Harbor, Cameron Crowe's Vanilla Sky, Carl Franklin's High Crimes and David McNally's Kangaroo Jack. His upcoming films this year include David Caffrey's Grand Theft Parsons, Nicole Kassell's The Woodsman, and Alex Turner's Dead Birds.
