Dexter Bullard

Personal Information
Dexter Bullard is an award-winning Chicago-based director dedicated to directing new plays and creating theater. He is a co-founder and Artistic Director of Plasticene, a critically acclaimed original physical theater company whose most recent work, The Palmer Raids, was seen at the Ohio Theater this past December. Plasticene has been featured at Steppenwolf Studio, The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Museum of Contemporary Art, and at Performing Arts Chicago's PAC/edge Festival. In 1990, Dexter founded The Next Lab at Next Theatre where he directed and created over eight shows as Associate Artistic Director and was the original producer of Tracy Lett's Killer Joe. He has also directed at Famous Door Theatre, American Theatre Company, A Red Orchid Theatre, as well as for The Second City Chicago and Detroit. Dexter teaches at The Theatre School at DePaul University, Second City and with Plasticene.
